The average temperature ranges between 25°C to 35°C (77°F to 95°F). Spring is an excellent time for wildlife sightings. The pleasant weather and active animals make it easier to spot various species, including tigers, rhinos, deer, and birds.

The average temperature ranges 30°C to 40°C (86°F to 104°F). The hot and humid weather during the monsoon season can make wildlife sightings more challenging. Some animals may seek shelter and stay hidden in the dense vegetation due to the frequent rains.

The average temperature ranges between 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F). Autumn is another good time for wildlife viewing. The weather is pleasant, and the grasslands are less dense, making it easier to spot animals like rhinos, elephants, and various bird species.

The average temperature ranges from 15°C to 25°C (59°F to 77°F). Winter is another favorable time for wildlife sightings. The cooler temperatures encourage animals to come out into the open, making it more likely to spot them near rivers and watering holes. It is also a good time to spot migratory birds that travel all the way from Siberia. The days with dense low fogs are extremely cold and can compromise visibility.

Important Details

Accommodation

You’ll be staying at comfortable and well-serviced accommodations. After a long day in the jungle, you can look forward to a refreshing shower and a chilled drink at the lodge.

Sharing rooms Accommodation is on twin-sharing basis, which means there will be two people to a room. If you are travelling solo, we can assign a room partner (with someone of the same gender if you so prefer) or if you are travelling with someone you know, you can share the room with them. For families with kids, room allocation depends on your preference and room availability. A separate single room can be arranged for an additional charge – please find details in the Prices section above.

Transportation

Flights There are multiple flights operating throughout the day. Although delays are common, these flights are more predictable than mountain flights. Buddha, Shree and Yeti Airlines are the common carriers and accommodate 42-80 passengers.

Vehicle We provide reserved private vehicles to drive you around for pick-ups and drop-offs as per the itinerary. Safaris inside the jungle will be on open jeeps.

Food & Water

Food Except for the days in the jungle where we will have packed meals, lunch and dinner are left out from prices to give you full flexibility depending on your appetite and preference. Hotels generally have a wide selection of food and drink options. For vegetarians and vegans, or if you have any other dietary requirements, please let us know at the time of booking so we can make arrangements.

Water Carrying your own water bottle/ hydration pack is mandatory. You can refill your bottle from our staff during the safari and at the hotel. We highly discourage buying plastic water bottles during the trek for environmental reasons.

Snacks to carry It is recommended to bring some light snacks (like chocolates, dry fruits, etc) and energy bars to munch on during the trip.

Crew

Guide/ Naturalist One lead guide will accompany you from Kathmandu and a local naturalist will tag along during your trip in the jungles. Our local naturalists are highly experienced in the jungle with knowledge of wildlife and birds. Do not hesitate to reach out to the team for any kind of queries or emergencies.

Money

Extra Costs to Expect Possible expenses, other than meals, could be drinks, laundry, tipping, and shopping. Please make sure you have read the Price section thoroughly so you know what you might need to pay for while traveling.

Emergency Fund Our trips are planned to the last detail. However, there might be unforeseen circumstances arising from factors beyond our control (like political unrest, strikes, bad weather, natural calamities, bad road conditions, airport closures, flight cancellations, etc). For this reason, please set aside Rs. 10,000 as reserve fund.

Currency You are advised to carry the local currency (Nepali rupees) as all the service providers transact in rupees.

ATMS and Credit cards In most areas outside the cities, cash is the more reliable and widely accepted payment method. While you’ll have the option to pay by card at some hotels, it’s important to note that card transactions can sometimes be unreliable and you’ll be charged an extra 3-4% transaction fee on top of the amount if you choose to pay by card. As for ATMs, there are a few in the center of the town.

Tipping A service charge with tips is included by most hotels and eateries in their bills. You are welcome to give some gratuities to the trekking crew if you like their service. A good reference is around USD 10-15 per day for the guides and USD 5 per day for the drivers. Feel free to tip higher if you love their service. You can tip either in Nepali rupees or US dollars. Generally, you chip in money as a group and tip your guides and porters on the last day of your trip over dinner.

Delays and Cancellation In case of flight delays/cancellations due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule at no extra cost. However, any extra cost incurred and extra charges because of the changes, including but not limited to transportation, accommodation and food, will be the responsibility of the traveller.

Health & Safety

You will be accompanied by experienced and knowledgeable naturalists equipped with a first aid kit. Always follow their instructions and stick to designated paths. Venturing alone into the bushes and water bodies can be dangerous.

Respect wildlife by maintaining a safe distance and avoiding any provocation. Your guide will brief you on how to handle various animal encounters. Keep movements and noise to a minimum.

Wear neutral-colored clothes (avoid red and white) to avoid attracting wildlife. Opt for full-sleeved clothes and proper shoes for jungle walks. Carry sanitizer and bug spray to protect against bugs and mosquitoes.

Never feed the wild animals and ensure that food is securely stored during a safari. Water safety is crucial, so drink only boiled water or use water purification methods like SteriPEN, LifeStraw, or purification tablets.

How to pack

The overall baggage limit is 20kgs (44lbs) per passenger, a policy set by the airlines for flights. Excess weight is allowed at an additional expense. However, we recommend not exceeding this weight limit as it should be way more than sufficient. The day bag that you will carry during the walking and jeep safaris includes all the necessary gears that you might need during the day, like rain gear, dry bag, a water bottle, sunscreen, basic toiletries and firstaid, phone, and camera, money, important documents, and a few snacks. A 20-45 liters bag, not exceeding 4-5 kgs is your ideal daypack.
